Look launched in 2007. It is a weekly fashion and gossip supplement that is aimed at women ages 18 – 35.
Unlike the monthly magazine Vogue, Look is predominantly aimed at the more ‘working class’ woman. It has what the celebrities are wearing and how you can get a similar look at an affordable price. This is opposed to the high end fashion shown in a magazine in Vogue. Items in this magazine are something a woman can go out and wear, where as Vogue often has outfits that woman who earn an average salary can only dream of wearing.
This is the first issue of Look magazine.

It is very much a different genre to Vogue in that it has a lot of information on the front telling the reader what they can read about inside the magazine. It also has a lot of bright colours to draw a reader in. There are multiple images and the main image is covered by the title, meaning it is less important than the magazine. If you compare this to Vogue’s cover in February 2007:

The person in the main and only image is always over the title. This could suggest that there is more money in the magazine’s editing team but it also suggests that the person on the cover is more important than anything. The slogans about about empowerment and things you can achieve, as opposed to being about celebrity gossip in Look.
However we can also compare the first Look magazine with the one today:

Though the premise of the magazine is the same, it has beauty tips, gossip and highstreet trends, it looks more mature and now almost every issue has the key figure over the ‘Look’ title. They have also singled them out by getting rid of the backdrops and adding a complimenting colour. The type faces are easier on the eye and the whole look is more feminine.
They have clearly took influence from Vogue and it appears to be a good look for it.
